Predictably, Jack wakes alone. Less predictably, he rolls over to see Will standing in front of the long piece of burnished copper that serves as a mirror in the Captain's quarters, bare-arsed naked except for Jack's hat. As Jack watches, Will adjusts the hat to a jauntier angle and lifts his chin, striking a heroic pose. Jack snickers. Will whirls, snatching the hat from his head. His face is scarlet, but dark eyes flash and his jaw firms in that familiar, stubborn look. "I," he says with tremendous dignity, "am still not a pirate." "All right, then," Jack says agreeably. |
